I spend most of my time reading books for young
adults. As a teacher-librarian I'm always looking for the next great
read to share with the students and teachers I work with, however,
on some occaisions read some cool books that are more sophisticated
in content. Here are a few recent reads:
Finished 23
Days in July: Inside the Tour de France and Lance Armstrong's
Record-Breaking Victory This is all about the amazing record
wins of Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France. But it is ever so
much more. Detailed descriptions about other riders as well, such
as Tyler Hamilton and Jan Ullrich.
Beware of the book that starts out calm and relaxed.
In between the covers lies a tense story of an Amish girl who delivers
a baby that dies. But the baby's death is not natural. Plain
Truth by Jodi Picoult is about an 18-year-old, unmarried
Amish girl who has a baby and then allegedly kills it. But my favorite
Jodi Picoult book is still My
Sister's Keeper. Riveting!
I am reading Sarah Dessen right now. Her newest release is Just Listen.
