GORG is a book group started in the fall of 2000 because teen lit is some of the best writing around. GORG stands for Groove on Reading Group and is for people commited to teen lit with all its angst and wonder. GORG is about teen literature that's out there on someone's edge, pushing limits and reminding us about the trials and tribulations (real and imagined) of being a teenager. We groove on good reads that stimulate the brain cells and rev up discussion. Book selections are geared to middle and high school students. We often read two books dealing with similar themes, and sometimes we read adult books featuring teenage protagonists. GORG members are teachers, librarians, parents and occasionally administrators who meet once a month over dinner or dessert. The only REAL requirement is to read the selected book. However, if you don't you are still welcome to join us, but more as a spectator than a participant. Join us for discussion or submit a book talk, or share your musings online in THOUGHTS. GORG is for anyone committed to teen literature that's new, unusual, and compelling. GORG discussions are usually an hour. Sample questions and question cards are in GROOVY STUFF. Books are selected in the fall. Readers supply their own books.
