How many books does GORG read in a year?
Usually between five and eight books from September to June. We usually take July and August off.
When do you select the books?
Books for the new school year are posted after the WLMA conference in October. Sometimes we choose books that might be good companion read, so a similar topic or genre. That might mean two books in a month.
What if I want to be involved but I cannot always attend?
Not a problem. We're pretty informal, but we want to talk books, so if you haven't read the book then it'd better to do something else that evening and join us when you can participate in the discussion. Even if you can only come once or twice during the year, it's worth it. It'll give you a better perspective on teen reading and teen topics.
How do I find the books?
Powell's, Barnes & Noble, Borders; online or at the store, most of the books we choose are easy to obtain. Some might be too new for your school collections, but that might vary. Each participant needs to provide their own book.
